Step 1.  Change roles

Not unlike the students who enter our classrooms, each educator comes to PBL with a different understanding and different skill set.  Expect that you and your student may change roles with respect to the technology knowledge-base.  Welcoming this role change empowers you and your student.

But that isn't the only role change you must undergo.  Thanks to GAM (Google Assisted Memory) your role is no longer limited to "dispenser of knowledge."  You are free to plan and embark upon  a series of learning journies where the rigor of Common Core Standards can be used to tackle relevant problems in a real-world.

Step 2.  Don't re-invent the wheel

Ultimately the goal is for the use of technology to make teaching easier and learning more natural

and relevant. There are plenty of resources available. Start easy and small. Think of that one standard, lesson

or activity that is falling short of expecations. Use your favorite search engine to locate technology resources

to better engage students in the learning.   Better still...give students the learning target and challenge them to

construct a plan for their learning.  All you have to do is ask yourself...."What should students know and be able to do?"
