1.  Establish relevance - What are they learning and why are they learning it?

2.  Define interim check point expectations and the tool(s) for measurement toward success.

3.  Build background knowledge.  

  • What do they already know?  

  • What do they need to learn?

4.  What types of differentiation will be needed?

5.  What resources are available for differentiating learning? 

  • List on line resources

    • Does flipping the classroom make sense to maximize in class time?

    • Virtual field trips, virtual museums, living history sites, simulations, games, PLNFlat Classroom Project

  • List off line resources

    • Graphic organizers, realia,live interviews, 

    • Cooperative learning groupings

  • The order of on-line and off-line activities ought not be dependent upon one another, unless you can guarantee students will interact with the activities in the correct order.

    • Provide multiple options whenever practical.

    • Allow student choice when possible.

    • Provide opportunities for students to utilize social media or another on-line presence.
